Abstract

This research aims to identify the method of using data journalism in the website of the Iraqi News Agency and the purpose of its use, as data journalism is a new art of journalistic arts that came as a result of the integration of electronic journalism with digital technology to lead to a new form of modern journalism called data journalism, which works to simplify data and huge information and transform them from rigid texts into images and numbers that are easier and more understandable for the recipient. The problem of this research is summarized in the main question: To what extent is data journalism used in the website of the Iraqi News Agency? The importance of this study emerges from the significant role played by data journalism, especially since we live in a world with multiple sources of news. This is what prompted the researcher to choose this topic in light of expectations to obtain results related to the communication function of data journalism, as the researcher used the analytical survey method using the content analysis tool for the research community for the period from 1/1/2024 to 1/6/2024. The total content of infographics on the Iraqi News Agency website amounted to (159) topics. The research reached a set of results, the most prominent of which were:
1. Security topics ranked first among other topics on the Iraqi News Agency website in terms of the use of infographics.
2. The Iraqi News Agency website relied primarily on the descriptive style as the method of displaying infographics for ease of use and understanding by recipients.
3. The goal of using data journalism on the Iraqi News Agency website was (informational) to provide the public with information, news, and important topics in the form of data.
